Sachi Bio wins NIH SBIR award to advance microbiome leads to treat auto-immune diseases.

Difficult-to-treat autoimmune diseases that are either caused or worsened by compounds produced by bacteria in the gut. Traditional treatments for these diseases have focused on changing the body’s immune response, but researchers are now trying a new approach that alters the types of bacteria in the gut or the compounds they produce. This project is designed to test a new technology for altering how much of each harmful or beneficial compound particular bacteria produce, with the goal of eventually delivering treatments tailored to each patient’s specific population of gut bacteria.
